RANGIYA: An accident took place on the important international highway connecting India and Bhutan led to the injury of one person. The truck involved, managed to flee from the location after committing the accident.

The accident took place in the Tulasibari locality of Rangiya on the very important India - Bhutan international highway. A motorcycle was involved in a head-on collision with a truck in front of the North East Bank local branch. Local people mentioned that the incident was a result of reckless driving on the part of the truck drivers plying on the road.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man named Aswini Deka who is a resident of the Bichennala locality of Rangiya was injured in the accident. He was riding the two-wheeler which was involved in the incident. Local people shifted him to a medical facility for immediate medical attention. His motorcycle bearing registration number AS 01 BH 7962 was also damaged in the incident.

Local people also mentioned that the truck was moving towards the Tamulpur side while the two-wheeler was going towards Rangiya. They also mentioned that the person on the two-wheeler was thrown away several meters by the impact from the point of the accident. The truck driver fled the location soon after committing the hit-and-run incident. Meanwhile, the Rangiya Police are on the lookout for the vehicle and the driver who was involved in the accident.

Previously, a road accident was reported in Bhalukaguri at NH-37 Road on Sunday night, leading to the deaths of one and two seriously injured. According to sources, the motorcycle bearing registration AS 06 P 9379 where the three were travelling was coming at a high speed from Demow and heading towards Moran hit a dumper from behind. The three youths on the motorcycle were identified as Ajay Majhi (23), Ajay Tanti (22) and Nathu Majhi (23); among the three, Nathu Majhi died.
